The Eastern Pan-Vascular Device Innovation Institute at Shanghai University of Engineering Science was established by two renowned experts: Academician Ge Junbo, an internationally famed cardiovascular disease specialist, Chinese Academy of Sciences member, and head of the Cardiology Department at Zhongshan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University, and Professor Liu Jianmin, director of the Cerebrovascular Disease Center and Trauma Center at the First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University (Shanghai Changhai Hospital). This independent secondary institute is housed within the Comprehensive Building A of Shanghai University of Engineering Science and consists of five functional floors, covering a total design area of about 9000 square meters.
In the context of the “Four Orientations” policy, the Healthy China strategy, and the strategy to become a manufacturing powerhouse, the Eastern Pan-Vascular Device Innovation Institute is committed to pioneering research in the integration of medical science and engineering, and to nurturing outstanding talents in pan-vascular devices. Adhering to the innovation philosophy of “From the doctors, by the engineers, for the patients,” the institute focuses on demand orientation, problem orientation, and effect orientation. Through high-quality interdisciplinary projects, it aims to create a special zone for graduate education reform, establish a collaborative system of “industry, academia, research, and application,” and accelerate the innovation and application of pan-vascular technologies, thereby supporting the development of the biomedical industry in Shanghai and nationwide.
